Will A Mattress Fit In A Car?

Some helpful mattress buying tips for easy mattress transportation!

If you are buying a mattress in a hurry and need to be able to fit it in your car, it can feel like your choices are limited to just a block of foam, however, mattress technology has changed drastically over the years to allow for convenience without compromising comfort.

If you were to buy a “standard” mattress which had not been vacuum packed or rolled and attempted to bend or fold it to fit in a car, this can cause structural damage to the inner springs and would overall compromise your mattress quality, and would certainly have a detrimental effect on your sleep. 

Most mattress suppliers will now offer a vacuum packed or “rolled up” mattress in their range, this is to allow for a quicker dispatch as it allows it to be transported on most UK couriers, but this also allows for the convenience of being able to fit it in the back of most standard sized cars (please check box dimensions before purchasing!)

Gone are the days when a roll up mattress limited you to just a block of foam, some suppliers now offer pocket spring, latex, memory foam, cool gel, and even pillow top mattress all arriving vacuum packed for ease of transportation. 

The below image is a prime example of how a simple roll up mattress can full expand into a luxury deep mattress, it’s important to note that roll up mattresses can generally be used within two hours of being opened, however, it can take 24-48 hrs at time for them to reach their full expansion.
