What is the right way up for a mattress, and is there a wrong way?

A quick helpful guide on the difference between a turnable and non-turn mattress and the benefits of each!

What is a Turnable Mattress

A turnable mattress is one manufactured with the ability to be used on both sides, meaning it needs flipping over on a regular basis to allow for even settlement of fillings.

Whatever the filling used in the mattress will be equal on both sides, meaning the same comfort level is apparent on either side of the mattress.

What is a Non Turn Mattress

A non turn mattress only has fillings on the top side, the base of the mattress will then usually be a flat non slip fabric which sits directly on the divan base or bed frame, this will require rotating on a regular basis, but does not require flipping.

What is better, turnable or non-turn mattresses?

Both types certainly have their merits, however, some argue that a turnable mattress is better purely for the fact you have the ability to use both sides of the mattress.

However, a non-turn mattress can be more beneficial to those who don’t have the ability to turn the mattress every three months, as depending on the fillings type, certain mattresses can be quite heavy to turn.

How often should you turn a turnable mattress?

With a turnable mattress, it’s advisable to turn it once every three months, this ensures even settlement of fillings and in turn prolongs the mattress life and ensure a blissful night’s sleep!
