Which Mattress Firmness Is Best?

How your sleeping position determines which firmness is best.

A quick guide to help you decide!

When coming to buy your new mattress, you can be faced with countless spring types, cover types, filling types which can in itself be daunting, but before you hit that stage in the buying process, the first thing you should be thinking about is the mattress firmness (sometimes also referred to as tension), that is a key factor in ensuring the best sleep results.

Key Factors – Sleeping Position:

’The position in which you sleep can also impact the mattress you choose. More specifically, if you find yourself sprawling out diagonally, you might run out of space and  need a different size mattress.

Super king mattresses are the largest standard UK size. However, with our custom size mattresses, you’re no longer limited. You pick the dimensions, we design and deliver a bespoke mattress that’s tailored to you.’

The firmness factor depends primarily on your sleeping position; if you sleep on your side for the most part, then a soft or medium mattress tends to be the best option and will provide cushioning to your shoulders, hips and knees which can be sensitive pressure points within the body.

If you sleep on your back, then medium or firmer tensions tend to give the most support to your spine, the more support you receive, the less likely you are to wake with those dreaded aches and pains.

If you sleep on your front, then medium or firmer tensions again will offer more support as the firmer tensions will promote natural spinal alignment.

Summary:

Choosing the right firmness will ultimately improve your sleep as your body will get the support to the place it’s needed the most.

Once you have that part of your journey completed, the next steps will fall into place and you’ll soon have a result of sleeping bliss.
